Charity stuff

Afternoon all,

I was talking to someone last night who mentioned a decent way of collecting for charity - dublin bus receipts.

Rather than trudging to the Dublin Bus office in O’Connell Street to redeem your ‘credit’ part
of an overpaid bus ticket, why not donate it to Charity work in Romania?

It doesn’t matter how old it is or how small the amount - just stick em in an envelope and post them to:

Wholesale Securities
1st Floor
Ashford House
Tara Street
Dublin 2

They have raised €1376.00 so far this year and can to raise a lot more with your help.

Further information on the charity can be found at

planes, trains and that lil weird tram thingy with no driver

hola folks,

I’m writing this from our rather oddly proportioned hotel room in London. It’s mad - the bathroom looks like something from a 60’s sci fi show, but enough about the crazy feng shui of suburban London and on with the post.

We have been traveling since 7 am and have to say that we have pretty much used almost every sort of public transport possible. The day has been somewhat odd in many respects, we had an auspicious start with a near traffic accident at 8 am this morning (if you are reading this blonde blue car lady - we are really really sorry - our taxi driver was a lil, ahem, special)

Our flight thankfully was a little less eventful as i slept all the way. once we arrived i was eager to check my mail in order to confirm the hotel details, London it seems is very shiny but really sucks for wifi access, we walked around for 3 hours in the oxford street area before finding a starbucks with net access for the rather extortionate price of £5 per hour - was not impressed. To his credit the dude behind the counter apologised before telling me the prices, surely there must be better wifi though? answers on a postcard please.

Leaving central London we found ourselves on the Docklands Light Railway which is really weird as there is no driver sitting in the front, it looks kind of like a stretched Luas, adding to the rather surreal situation was the fact that were standing in the station from the movie 28 weeks later which was still heavily barricaded and covered in CCTV cameras.

Eventually however, the bizaro tram left us outside our hotel, we checked in, Vinny started coding and i crashed grabbing a few hours sleep.

Tomorrow is the first day if the conference, I’ll post some first impressions in the morning.

take it h

GPS

Our next big feature we are looking into, is allowing the site to work with GPS enabled phones. If anyone has any useful tips on this, can you send them to vinny@justroutes.com . I hope to allow people to visit our site, in such a way that their location is automatically discovered. Then one click they can get to any location, or if they visit one of our corporate sites, the phone will tell them how to get to the theatre, restartaunt, etc straight away.

Thanks in advance,

Vinny

More Routes

After spending a week checking out the sites of Dublin we have added another 1300 Dublin Bus stops to justroutes.com . This makes up around 40 new routes. I believe there around 200 routes in Dublin, anyone got a more exact figure? I hope to have an RSS feed so that people can view the names of new routes coming soon.

In other news, we hope to have all the Bus Eireann Expressway routes(about 40 of them) mapped by Monday, so that it will be done in time for the FOWA conference in London on Tuesday.
